Our Mandate

City of Edmonton Bylaw 5107 established homeEd’s mandate as being “to develop, provide, operate and maintain housing accommodation of all kinds.”

homeEd's primary role is to provide affordable rental housing to a mix of lower and moderate income households, with rents starting at the low end of market.

As a non-profit housing provider, homeEd’s operating objective is to maintain a break-even financial position. It does this by obtaining grants from all three levels of government as well as collecting subsidized or below market rents from tenants. Rents and grants generate sufficient revenue to cover annual operating costs.
